Te orokohanga

Ira Koopu was formalised in 2023, by

Sheryl Matenga and Letari Tepana, after more than 10 years of active contribution and advocacy for whaanau within the community of Raahui Pookeka. Specialising in community engagement, and rangatahi development it was finally time to find a place and space that Raahui Pookeka rangatahi and whaanau could call home.

Ko wai maatou

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Much like our saying "He piko he taniwha, he piko he taniwha. Waikato taniwha rau.

At Ira Koopuu, our strength lies in the many hands and hearts that come together to bring our kaupapa to life.

While we are new as a company, we are not new to this mahi. For over 10 years, we have stood side by side, building, creating, and delivering initiatives that uplift our haapori, empower rangatahi and reconnect the disconnected to Kiingitanga.

Every member of our team contributes out of aroha and a deep commitment to our community.

It’s not about titles or positions - it’s about finding purpose

Each of us brings our time, our skills, and dedication to ensure Ira Koopuu remains a living expression of the values we hold close.

Together, we continue to build a future for Raahui Pookeka where our whaanau and rangatahi can thrive.

It’s a collective effort driven by kotahitanga, bound by the belief that we are stronger when we work together.
